BLM and its predecessors have taken an active position as a brine supplier to the petrochemical industry in Eastern Louisiana, dating as far back as the 1930s, when solution mining operations began at the Bayou Choctaw salt dome. While we have a history of more than 85 years of supplying brine supply services to Louisiana consumers, recent studies indicate that the Bayou Choctaw salt dome currently has sufficient salt reserves to continue providing the industry with high rates of brine for several decades. The Bayou Choctaw salt dome is a critical component of BLM’s Choctaw Hub.
Boardwalk Louisiana Midstream recently began solution mining two wells on the Napoleonville dome to supply chlor-alkali customers on the Mississippi River Industrial Corridor.
