  • Boardwalk Louisiana Midstream, LLC and its predecessors have taken an active position as a brine supplier to the petrochemical industry in Louisiana, dating as far back as the 1930s, when solution mining operations began at the Bayou Choctaw salt dome, where our Choctaw Hub is located. While we have a history of more than 85 years of supplying brine to Louisiana consumers, recent studies indicate that the Bayou Choctaw salt dome currently has sufficient salt reserves to continue providing the industry with high rates of brine for several decades.  The Bayou Choctaw salt dome is a critical component of Boardwalk Louisiana Midstream’s Choctaw Hub, which is located 15 miles south of Baton Rouge near Plaquemine, Louisiana.

Today, we have three brine production wells in service, with take away capacity of approximately 4,000 gallons of brine per minute. We plan to drill two additional brine production wells in the coming years, both of which are currently in the permitting process.

We also have a 1,000,000 barrel brine pond at our Choctaw Hub that was placed into service in early 2013.  This facility affords Boardwalk Louisiana Midstream the ability to manage brine production more efficiently, while also allowing for more effective operations by de-bottlenecking the company’s associated hydrocarbon storage and pipeline assets.
